Our Story

A good, hand-rolled bagel can be hard to find, especially one made with ingredients that actually make sense.

We grew tired of pulling bagels off grocery shelves and seeing ingredient lists filled with preservatives and additives designed to extend shelf life rather than nourish people. Food should be simple, intentional, and made with care.

So we set out to create something different. A California boy and a Carolina girl came together to make bagels that were meant to last, not through preservatives, but through the memories created through hard work and love.

At Nala’s Bagels, every bagel is made from scratch using minimal ingredients we trust and proudly serve to our own family and friends. Our bagels are hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, and cold fermented for 24+ hours to develop the flavor and classic chew that great bagels are known for.

A smiling young woman and a smiling young man are hugging a happy golden retriever dog outdoors during golden hour, with a wooden fence in the background.

But Nala’s Bagels became about more than just bagels. Anyone who has met Nala knows there is something special about the joy, comfort, and love dogs can bring into people’s lives. Her ability to bring smiles, connection, and warmth inspired us to build a brand centered around positivity, community, and nourishment in every sense of the word.

That purpose continues to guide everything we make today: to nourish our people through wholesome ingredients and meaningful experiences. “Ingredients you can count on one hand, or one paw” is more than our tagline. It is our commitment to quality, transparency, and making food the way we believe it should be made.

What is a bagel popper?

Craving a bagel but not ready for the whole thing?

A hand holding two baked goods, one blueberry muffin and a biscuit, in front of a window with a dog lying on a wooden deck outside.

Bagel poppers are bite-sized, hand-rolled bagels crafted with our traditional boil-and-bake method and a short list of simple ingredients, finished with a lightly golden exterior and a perfectly chewy center.

Around here, Nala calls them pawpers.
